Non gainfully employed spouses of working persons who are insured in Switzerland

Any person who accompanies their insured spouse abroad and does not work there themselves is either co-insured or may join the compulsory OASI/DI, depending on the applicable international treaty.

The application must be addressed to the compensation office of the employed spouse.

Non gainfully employed spouses of working persons who are insured abroad

Any non gainfully employed person residing in Switzerland, whose spouse is employed in a contracting state and is subject to the compulsory insurance there or remains insured in the country of origin as a posted worker in spite of being employed in Switzerland, is obliged to pay contributions in Switzerland as an non-working person. The cantonal compensation office at the place of residence is responsible for collecting the contributions.

Exceptions: Persons who remain insured in the country of origin due to the social security agreement.
